3001 Harbor Drive (A1A)
Fort Lauderdale, FL 33316
Date of Last Visit: Sunday, December 21st, 2008
The Victim: Dad
The Damage: $30 or thereabouts
The Background: Bahia Cabana is another one of those sorts of places that my dad takes me to. And I have to admit that I kinda really like it. Even though it's a DUMP. You know how lots of new restaurants put up old license plates in a bid
to appear atmospheric? At Bahia Cabana, this sort of decor isn't faked.
It's actually real.
The hotel/restaurant/bar is located in a Days Inn motel, off a particularly unglamorous stretch of Fort Lauderdale's A1A. But if you can forget the tacky-ness of the decor and if you like Motown (like I do) then this is the place for you.
The Food: Pancakes. And bacon. (The crispy kind.) What you see is what you get. It all looked good and it all tasted good too. God Bless an American breakfast.
The View: Hard to beat, right there off the intracoastal, overlooking the marina. This was the view from our table.
The Verdict: I will always have a soft spot in my heart for Bahia Cabana. And hey, I need to get my dad to London more often. Because he has this way of picking out great restaurants.

My mom sent me (real) pancake mix in January, so if you ever want a real American breakfast call me – we just have to find real bacon. 😉
