Cakehole
Inside Vintage Heaven
82 Columbia Road
E2 7QB
Date of Last Visit: Sunday, 9 March 2008
The Victim: Me
The Damage: 2 quid for a tea.
I was wandering around Columbia Road on Sunday and while I was in one of the shops–Vintage Heaven–I noticed that they had the cutest little cafe in the back. I dropped in for a cuppa and mentioned how I had never noticed the cafe before.
Well, that’s because they apparently just opened about a month ago! So I am not out-of-the-loop.
I’ll be back for Cream Tea for One soon…doesn’t it look like just the place to take your mom or grandma? Or yourself?

Thought I saw you around the market. Well OK, Antonia thought she saw you: I was far too hungover to focus.
I visited both ends of the breakfast spectrum while I was there: a truly revolting breakfast bagel thing, which made me feel worse, and a sublime native oyster which made the world a better place.
I’d like a lovely cupcake and a tea, please.
I was going to go there 2 Sundays ago but our visitor (who was only in Lonodn for 36 hours and had run out of energy by then!) declined. But now at least next tiem I go I’ll be armed with the knowledge to go and seek this place out. “Cream tea for one” is probably the most deliciously self-indulgent phrase in the English language.
I went to Cakehole last Sunday and had a lovely pot of tea and a rose cupcake for the bargain price of £3!!! And absolutely lovely way to spend a Sunday morning!!!
The owner of HighTea of Highgate told me about this cafe and highly recommends it. I enjoyed your review and look forward to visiting the cafe myself 🙂
