Edward Moon
9 Chapel Street
Stratford-Upon-Avon CV37 6EP
Date of Last Visit: Saturday, May 2nd, 2009
The Victims: Gerry, Ben
The Damage: £20ish each?
The Background: We've planned a little field trip. We've never been to Stratford-upon-Avon, so we take the train in and check out Shakespeare's birthplace and the Nash house and then we start to construct our own little pub crawl of Straford-upon-Avon.
But first, some lunch. We really don't know where we're going, but we've got a Let's Go or a Lonely Planet or something and I've got Google Maps–I'm becoming increasingly reliant on the "Search Nearby" feature, where you bring up the map of your location, and then ask Google to show you all the restaurants nearby–and all signs point to Edward Moon. The reviews are good. Some of the best in our vicinity, actually!
The Entrance: It's not a pub but it's not a restaurant. I suppose it's a bit more pubby. We're shown a table by the windows with a view of the parade set-up. (Later, we'll march in that parade. Sort of.)
The Food: Roast chicken for me and for Ben and it's nice. Just nice. I'm fine with it, really. OK, maybe it's a little bit better than nice. But just a little bit. You can see that it was served with both broccoli AND mushrooms. The sauce totally masked the mushrooms and I didn't even notice them. A good thing.
The Loos: Eh. Could have been cleaner.
The Verdict: As a touristy meal in a touristy town, we could have done worse. This was just fine.
