The Victims: Bevin, Dan
If I lived in the neighborhood, I would eat here all the time. I love this restaurant. From the very first moment I exited the taxi, I loved it. There’s a beautiful outdoor terrace and then lots of doors that open up onto it. And then when you walk in, it’s all white and dark wood, and there’s a longish bar that curves around the center area of the restaurant.
We were shown to a table by a sidedoor to the outdoor patio. It wasn’t super hot or anything, but it was nice to be by the fresh air. The waitstaff was super friendly and nice. They brought by these fresh baked rolls of all different types–olive, sundried tomato, parmesean, etc. Yummy.
We ordered a bottle of NZ Sauvignon Blanc–it was expensive, but a twist-off! Still so funny, but hey, it’s a hermetic seal of some sort. Then we got appetizers. I had the goat cheese, which came in a deep fried pastry wrapped–yummy heart attack! Bevin got the duck salad, which I was very envious of. Dan got something with sardines and loved it.
For our entrees, I got the cod and a side salad because I was warned the cod was a small dish. It was plenty large and plenty delicious. Loved it! Bevin got the pork special and I tried a piece and was instantly jealous. Dan got some sort of fish–I forget–and cleaned his plate completely.
Through it all, our waitstaff was super friendly and nice, and gave us good recommendations on what we might like and dislike. Our waiter recommended the beef for another visit–the table next to us got it and it looked unbelievably moist and tender. Even though we had finished eating, we coveted it.
For dessert, we got an assortment of sorbets–one was mango and chilli, which was interesting–like a firecracker! But good in a weird kind of way.
The Verdict: Go! Go with your family, your friends, your relatives, strangers you meet on the tube. Anyone! This place is absolutely fantastic.
