I'm a little tired of blogging at the moment. So you'll have to humor me.
Wa Do, close to where Old Street and Great Eastern Street come together, fascinates me.
Kebab! Donut! Burger! Chips and Pies!
Has anyone ever had a donut from Wa Do? A pie? Somehow, I think they offer neither. (And apparently, they only had one of everything but the chips and pies anyhow.)
Has anyone ever eaten here? Ever? Is a Chinese kebab possible? How is it?
Can you read Chinese? What does the sign actually say?
Really, how do they make a living? And why do people go here? Why?

Never been, but passed many times and wondered the same thing…who does eat there?
Lol,
Reminds me of places in inner city Philly…
We saw one:
Cheese steaks, seafood, fried chicken, chinese, soul food…
We are an enterprising race…HAHA!
It says what it says: Wa do. Doesn’t mean anything, I don’t think…
it APPEARS to be traditional chinese for Hua Dou, or literally translated Chinese and All. I suppose that’s apt, because they’re chinese but doing all cuisines?
Have honestly wondered the same thing many times. So I get the all you can eat Indian just west on Old Street instead. Or just go to the Foundry and drink beer.
I’ve been there. It’s open late! And wasn’t actually that bad…
Not quite a culinary classic, though.
i think the shop is really trying to earn money from everyway possible hahah..
the chinese characters are just names of somebody (maybe the shop owner) and they sound as it’s read.
dodgy eh! chinese take away that sells everything else but chips ..and pies..

I understood the chinese characters to mean “chinese city”, wa/hua = chinese and do/du = city/town. Never eaten there, never wanted to.
The other one that really intrigues me is Yeung’s on City Road. It’s ALWAYS empty.
Yeung’s is closed! Finally! That place was totally a cover for some
nefarious doings. I’m sure of it!
I had a spring roll from Wa Do in 2000. It was very greasy but I was drunk so that was OK.
