We had spent the day at Henley, which was lovely. Lee, Mer, Anna and I were all wearing very big hats and looking quite the thing. I had been bluejacked at Paddington on the way to Henley–the message said simply, "Drool." Fantastic.
Well, I somehow managed to not eat anything between 10 a.m. and 9 p.m., which was not good, given the collective quantities of Pimms and champagne consumed. So once we arrived back at Paddington, it was time to eat. A lengthy debate ensued–it was late, there were 7 of us, and we lived all over the city. So we went to Chinatown.
Canadia boy used his Canadian wiles to find us a good place by asking a bouncer on Gerrard Street where he’d eat if he were us. He pointed to three restaurants, and Canadia Boy led us onwards to the Golden Dragon. After being mesmerized by chopping skills of the duck guy, we were shown to a round table upstairs.
Hot and sour soup, duck pancakes, kung po chicken, some sort of pork, spicy beef, chinese broccoli, bean curd and crab meat, singapore noodles, and some sort of prawns. And lots of white rice! Loved it, loved it, loved it. We also had some Tsing-taos. It was great. Great, great, great.
I’ve done a bit of research on the Golden Dragon, and from what I understand, it’s big into dim sum. And the waitstaff is known to be pretty obnoxious. Well, we didn’t have any dim sum, and the wait wasn’t so obnoxious, so I can’t truly comment. I can say that they did a smashing job for 7 people–4 in big hats–at 10 pm on a Saturday, when we had probably already been over-served.
The Verdict: Fun for the whole family!

I am big hot and sour soup fan and I remember it being the best I have ever had. Might have been the Pimms talking so I’ll try again sober and report back.
